The Ralph W. Steen Library project was a Senior Capstone renovation group project for the university library at Stephen F. Austin. The goal of the project was to work in teams of four a renovate the library to be meet code and meet needs for students, faculty, and staff.
The Ralph Steen Library will attract more people by providing services that encourage learning, creativity, and discovery. Additionally, the library will be reinvented with new furniture and finishes that will create a modern feel and support all styles of studying. Natural light will be utilized for an effective learning environment and wellbeing.
With these improvements, we hope to make the library the "Third Place" for students as well as the East Texas community, in doing so providing a place for all to collaborate, exchange ideas and be productive in a safe, new and inviting environment.
